First Smile

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Dylan started to smile at about 3 weeks old and I was finally able to capture it on film.  I've also added a couple of other pictures of our sweet boy.

Cat Food

Friday, January 23, 2009

Our daughter has become a bit obsessed with the cat food recently.  Usually, we find her in there taking the cat food out of the bowl and then trying to put it in the bowl, then out, then in (a real pain since mostly it's just all over the floor) - but the other day she decided to pretend to be a cat and eat the food!  She didn't really eat the food, she'd just pick it up with her mouth and then spit it out.  Yes, it's gross, but we feed the cats "human-grade" cat food - so it's not going to kill her.  Instead I snapped photos and video!   Big mistake, since now she wants to "pretend-eat" the cat food all the time - urrggg.  But at least you can enjoy the antics!

Dylan's First Bath - Jan 8th

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Dylan got his first bath a few weeks ago.  The lighting isn't great, but here are some pictures from the event.  Little man does not enjoy being cold at all (and will let you know it), so we have to be quick with the bath and getting him into a warm towel.

And the Video...

Lolly

Kyla is a big fan of lolly-pops, which she calls "lolololll." She wasn't done with the lolly she got after dinner, so we told her she could have it during her bath - before she brushed her teeth, of course.  Kyla didn't quite realize it the whole thing (candy and paper) would start to disintegrate in the water!

Is that the saddest lolly you've ever seen!
Oh well, bath time is still fun!

Do They Look Alike?

Sunday, January 18, 2009

What do you think?  Do Kyla and Dylan look like each other?  I tried to find some similar pictures from both their births so you can decide for yourself.

I certainly think they do, although Kyla has dark hair/dark eye lashes and Dylan is blonde.  To me, Kyla's face is a little more round and her lower lip is fuller.  One area they really differ (weirdly) is their nails.  Kyla's are broad and short, whereas Dylan's are long and thin - the complete opposite!

Crazy Hair

Monday, January 12, 2009

Happy Tuesday!  Had to show you this picture John took of Kyla from the weekend when she woke up with the craziest hair!

p.s. notice the saran wrap - we weren't kidding about that!

Goodbye Christmas Lights

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Kyla really got into the Christmas spirit this year and every night she liked to take a walk up and down our street to see the neighbors Christmas lights (I think she was a bit disappointed with our sedate white lights on the house).  It was pretty funny to watch her each night wanting to touch each display - including counting the rows of santas, snowflakes, candycanes, etc. (see video) And you better be counting - my dad came with us a few nights when he was in town and Kyla stopped in the middle of counting to point at Grandpa for not counting along with everyone else!  This was our last walk of the season and she went around touching and kissing her favorites - saying goodbye until next year.

And a finishing swing

I Love the Saran Wrap carton

We have no idea why she loves it so much, but almost every day she begs to go into the pantry and pull out the Saran Wrap container.  She plays with it intact, the box itself and the roll itself.  Luckily, she doesn't want to unroll all the Saran Wrap!

And yes, that's her brother's bouncy seat, which she likes to sit in whenever possible.  Or her baby sits in it.
