1st Birthday Party!
We had a wonderful 1st birthday party this afternoon with a few of Kyla's friends and their parents. Kyla got lots of great stuff, but the highlight (for her) was the pink and black baby doll stroller. She loves to push things around the house - so this was a clear hit! Thank you everyone for all the lovely gifts!

Reading with Daddy
Sunday, April 20, 2008
Kyla LOVES books and reading stories is the highlight of our night time ritual. She will usually point to something she finds interesting and likes to help turn the pages, but mostly she sits back, relaxes and gets into the story. Tonight I captured John doing his usual fabulous job. He has his repertoire of stories that always ends with "Pat the Bunny" (notice Nobu, who likes to listen too).

Travel Kleenex = Fun
Wednesday, April 9, 2008
Kyla got into the drawer we keep spare burp clothes, her shoes and assorted odds and ends, like travel size Kleenex (or hankies for those in Scotland). You would have thought she'd won the lottery the way she found with these. She held one in each hand and banged them together, put them up high and dropped them, picked them up again, scooted across the floor with one in each hand, and on and on. When we later had to go upstairs to take a bath, she cried and cried when I made her leave them downstairs. Just another confirmation that kids don't care about the expensive toys.

Meeting A Llama
Monday, April 7, 2008
Our local Barnes & Noble has an annual Llama day that includes story time and meeting a llama. The story of course was about llama's called "Llama Llama Mad At Mama." Kyla didn't care much for the story, she preferred playing with the other babies or trying to get my latte (too much "Urban Babies Wear Black" where the baby is drinking a latte). After the story, they had all the children come meet the 2 llama's. Yes, there were llama's right in the middle of the B&N kid section. The picture above is a scan of the polaroid they took, so not the best quality. They took it right as we went up to the llama, so it missed Ky's huge smile when the llama's soft mouth touched her hand as it tried to get the carrot. Llama's don't have front teeth so they can't bite - so no worries there (much to the delight of B&N's lawyers, I'm sure). Everyone was laughing at Kyla's pure joy over the llama, so they kept giving us carrots to feed him! And our little girl kept entertaining the crowd with her infectious laugh!
