BOY!!!!

John and I both knew it was going to be a boy from early on, but now we have our confirmation.  It's going to be so much fun designing a boy's nursery and buying boy clothes this time around.  Kyla seemed pretty unimpressed.  But she does like looking for the "baby" which usually means poking me in the belly-button and laughing hysterically.

Here are a few pictures of our growing wee boy.

Missing My Mom

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Not sure if this is the place for it but, I needed to write out my feelings tonight....

I went and saw Mamma Mia with a friend and her mother. It was a great movie and so much fun, but as we were walking out, my friend's mom (who is visiting for a few weeks) started talking about how she is teaching her granddaughter "itsy-bitsy" spider and other songs and getting to spend some quality time with her daughter and granddaughter. We all chatted for a few minutes and then as I was walking to my car, I just started bawling - missing my mom so much I could barely breathe. Oh, how I would love to spend a night at the movies with her watching a chick flick, or just a chat on the phone over nothing, or have her visiting, playing with Kyla - teaching her songs. Itsy-Bitsy spider was one my mom used to sing to me all the time - and a very special memory.

I think what hurts the most is there is nothing I can do about it. She's never coming back and I will never have those experiences with her, no matter how much I long for it. I can talk with her in spirit, she's watching over us, etc - but it's not the same. It's not the same as having her here physically in my life. And I know a million people around the world have lost people they love and want them back just like me. But in my own little world, I'm just a daughter grieving for her mother and wanting her back so badly I physically ache.

So I'm writing this down and sending it out into the universe..... hoping to let some of the hurt go.....

Kyla's 1 Year Pictures

I forgot to mention that we had Kyla's 1 year pictures done a few weeks ago by my friend (and amazing photographer) Mollie Donovan.  She did them at our house and they are absolutely fabulous!!  We'll be ordering a bunch, but to check them out yourself follow the link:

Enjoy!  And if you live in Austin, we highly recommend Mollie!

Funny Monday

Why my child has a lipgloss tube hanging out of her mouth is beyond me. :)

Accessorizing at 14 Months

Saturday, July 19, 2008

My little fashionista is already accessorizing at 14 months - could a mother be more proud?  Obviously I picked out the blue and white ensemble, but Kyla decided the outfit needed a "little something" in the form of a gold necklace.  Looks smashing, don't you think?  And what a girl needs when pushing her baby stroller about town.

p.s. she wouldn't really hold still for any photographs, so that's why they are a bit blurry.

Belly Pix (16 weeks)

Friday, July 18, 2008

Since I chronicled my belly with Kyla every 4 weeks, I figure I should probably do the same with Baby Scott #2 - or else I might not hear the end of it when he/she is 16.  So here is the first pictures of my ever-expanding belly.

Happy Monday

Funny picture to brighten your Monday!  I have no idea what Kyla is doing or why, but she seemed to think it was very funny.

First Pigtails (6/25)

Friday, July 11, 2008

Kyla's hair is just long enough now for pigtails.  Isn't she the cutest girl ever!

Brunch with the Family

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

The holiday wouldn't be complete without a trip to Waterloo for brunch followed by time at the play-park.  Who can beat a brunch place where you can sit at your table, sip your drink, eat uninterrupted and still see your kids playing on the playground!  It's become and annual Scott/Purcell/Buddie outing and everyone leaves happy.

4th of July!!

We had a traditional 4th of July celebration - even though Kyla and I are the only Americans in the bunch - with a day at the pool, followed by a nice dinner at Olive Garden (what's more American than Italian food?) and of course fireworks downtown!  Kyla loved the fireworks and kept pointing to them over and over again.  Everyone got into the spirit wearing red/white/blue and saying "Happy 4th of July" when prompted (thanks, Pamela!)

Girl's Days/Nights Out

Another perk of their visit, that John stayed home with the 3 girls, while we went out for some fun!

Headed out for a day of shopping!

Scottish Family Arrives

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

John's sister Janice, her children Jade and Eva and our friend Pamela all arrived from Scotland on 6/30.  We spent the first few days lounging around the pool so the kids could swim and the girls could get started on their savage tans!
