I'm always trying to describe the beautiful Clyde Valley (just east of Glasgow) area of Scotland where John's family lives. John's parents have just moved to a new, larger home just a hop, skip and a jump from their former home. Trotterbank Nurseries (owned by John's parents, sister and brother-in-law) purchased a larger nursery right next door last year, and with that they had to purchase the house as well (the new house and nursery are tied together so had to be purchased together). They couldn't keep both houses so John's parents, sold their former house to John's aunt and uncle.
The grounds where the houses sit, is also home to the now bigger Trotterbank Nurseries. You can see many of the glass houses and poly-tunnels in the picture below. This is where 100s of bedding/flowering plants, herbs and vegetables are grown and sold to local garden centers. It's really an amazing set-up and I enjoyed getting a full tour this year of the new digs. Kyla loved to look out Gran and Papa's kitchen window to see all the fork lifts/tractors carrying plants and putting them on the big trucks or lorries as they call them in Scotland. Even better are the rolling lawns just perfect for a child to run and run and run.
So on this visit, I made sure to take some pictures, so you can see why we think it's one of the most beautiful places to live.
View from my in-laws family room/kitchen. This is the back lawn and you can see the black top of Janice and Iain's house on the right. There is a brick porch right out the sliding glass doors and Dad put up lots of bird feeders, so you can watch the birds come get breakfast and sing awhile.
View from the road looking up the hill to where they all live. Didn't I tell you the family lives really close to one another? In the grassy pasture in the top right are where the cows come up from the valley to graze. Kyla enjoyed taking a walk up there each day to see if the cows were there.
And with labels
